UG Management Secures 400 Brand-New Computers for Student Use and Online Examinations
The Pro Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Gordon Awandare, on behalf of Management, handed over 400 brand-new desktop computers to the Academic Affairs Directorate.
The computers are expected to be installed in various computer laboratories and the Balme Library, exclusively for student use and for online examinations.
Prof. Awandare announced that Management has approved the purchase of over 1000 brand-new computers to meet the requisite capacity for taking examinations in an appropriate manner, that enhances exam integrity.
He added that the distribution will be done in phases, emphasising that they are for student use and not for distribution to administrative offices.
Director of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah, expressed her excitement about the computers, noting that they will help to enhance the conduct of on-line onsite examinations.
‘These have come to complement our number of computers, which were inadequate. In addition to this, we have about 800 functioning desktop computers,’ she stated.
On his part, Director of the Information Technology Directorate, Mr. Francis Boachie, acknowledged the timeliness of the presentation. He assured Management that the computers will be installed and configured for their intended purpose.
The purchase and handover of the new computers underscores Management’s continuous efforts at creating a technologically enabling environment that allows for a comfortable and fulfilling experience for students.
