2022/2023 JCR Administration of Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall Commissions Projects

The 2022/2023 Junior Common Room (JCR) Administration of Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall at the University of Ghana has commissioned its newly completed projects at the Hall.

The executives carried out the projects, which comprised two refurbished reading rooms, a conference room, and one television room to enhance student productivity, learning, and leisure experiences.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, who chaired the ceremony, commended the student leaders for their efforts in enhancing student conditions on campus. She lauded the current JCR administration of the Hall for efficiently using students’ dues and encouraged subsequent administrations to emulate this.

“I think the 2022/2023 JCR Administration have used their dues in a very appropriate manner to make reading, studying, entertainment, and relaxation comfortable, and I will encourage subsequent administrations to do the same,” Prof. Rosina Kyerematen noted.

The Dean also urged the residents and the subsequent JCR Administration of the Hall to take good care of the refurbished reading rooms and the other facilities.

The Senior Tutor of the Hall, Dr. Ebenezer Owusu, was honoured by having the conference room named after him for his dedication to the development of the Hall.

In his remarks, Dr. Owusu thanked the Hall Administrators and the 2022/2023 JCR Administration for the honor done and pledged to maintain the conference room, repaint the newly refurbished rooms, and provide full support for the Elizabeth Sey Day initiative.


Speaking at the launch, Daniyal Asaam Frimpong, JCR President of the Hall, welcomed and thanked the Hall Administrators and JCR Executives for their support towards the success of the project. He indicated that the project was part of the 2022/2023 JCR Administration effort and dedication towards the development of Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall.

Following the successful commissioning of the projects, a handing-over activity was held to induct newly elected Hall Executives into office.

The inducted executives will be led by Osei Tutu Nyamekese Kelvin as President. The others are Michelle Oteng Bantesi, Vice President; Lorinda Teyehugmeh, General Secretary; Foster Nunya, Treasurer; Maxwell Dzikunu, Organising Secretary and Grace Ampiah, Sports Secretary.

The outgone JCR executives include Raman Yusif, Vice President; Akosua Oforiwaa Gyamfi, Treasurer; Cyvil Naa Tawiah, General Secretary; Desmond Nii Koi Neequaye, Organizing Secretary; Daniel Obeng, Sports Secretary and Pearl Ahiataku, Legal Advisor.

Also present at the ceremony were Dr. James K. Adomako- Senior Lecturer Plant Biology Department, Former Dean of Student Affairs; Mr. James Baworiyem, Hall Administrator, Elizabeth Sey Hall; Mr. Franklin Gershone, Chief Porter, Elizabeth Sey Hall, and residents of Elizabeth Sey Hall.
